Raffaello in Milan

For the sixth consecutive year in Milan, in collaboration with ENI ( National Hydrocarbon Corporation ) is hosted the traditional exhibition in the  Alessi Hall of Palazzo Marino.
From November 28th to January 12th  the Madonna of Foligno, an extraordinary work of Raphael, coming from the Vatican Museums will be exhibited to the public. Free Admission.
The Madonna of Foligno was the first altarpiece of the famous painter Raphael, commissioned by the secretary of Pope Julius II, and destined to  the Roman church of Santa Maria in Aracoeli , located on Capitoline Hill (Rome). The painting tells the story of the apparition, on Christmas Day , of the Madonna and Child surrounded by some Angels to the emperor Augustus, who, by that time, gave up to be worshiped as a God , recognizing the majesty of the Child with the  building  a Church in that place. In the painting there are St. John the Baptist , St. Francis , St. Jerome and Sigismondo de ‘ Conti (the customer) . With 320 cm of height and 194 cm in width, the extraordinary painting was created in 1511 AD and normally resides in the Vatican Museums .
